Falcons Pick up Fifith-Straight MAC Championship

GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Messiah College men's tennis team won their fifth-straight MAC Commonwealth title after they defeated No.3 Lebanon Valley 5-0 on Saturday afternoon. Messiah has had a dominant year within the conference in which they went 7-0 in regular season conference play. With this championship title the Falcons moved to 10-7 over and punched their ticket to the NCAA National Championship for the fifth consecutive year.

The Falcons and Flying Dutchmen started things off with doubles play. Although Messiah was tested they were able to sweep Lebanon Valley 3-0. No.1 doubles Tim Dunn and Connor Graybeal started things off with a 8-4 win and Galen Fitzkee and Alex Mantsevich (No. 2 doubles) followed close behind winning 8-5. Andrew Bookman and Keller Martin had to battle for every point and picked up an 8-6 victory.

In singles play, Connor Graybeal was outstanding. As Messiah's No. 3 singles he defeated his opponent 6-3 in the first set and 6-0 in the second set to pick up the Falcons' fourth win of the day. Graybeal was also named tournament MVP due to his solid performance in singles and doubles. No. 1 Tim Dunn defeated Blake Martin 6-1, 6-2 to clinch the win for Messiah, however Galen Fitzkee was also able to finish his match shortly after Dunn to grab a 6-1. 6-1 win.
