Suburban Friendship League Teams - Ages 11-18

AC Cugini older recreational teams are for girls and boys ages 11-18 who do not wish to pursue a year-round travel soccer program or cannot play games on Sundays. Recreational players who register with Cugini will compete in the Suburban Friendship League (SFL), where teams play games on Saturdays on fields in Northern Virginia. AC Cugini places both girls and boys teams in the SFL, where the Fall game season runs September to early November with the season ending with a tournament. All Cugini SFL teams receive training by a professional instructor 1 practice per week.  AC Cugini SFL teams practice in Reston and play half their games home in Reston (and possibly in Chantilly depending on referee assigning) and half on away fields (typically within 30 minutes of a club's home base).

Important Reminders

Practice Policies/Reminders:
  • All Cugini players must wear either their Cugini practice t-shirt and uniform shorts and socks or their home uniform and socks to every practice, no exceptions.
  • Players must bring a soccer ball with their name and plenty of water.
  • Please  have the courtesy to contact your coach if you are unable to attend practice.

Game Reminders:
  • Be sure to arrive at the field 45 minutes prior to game time in full uniform and shing uards, ready to warm up. Proper stretching and warmup drills are essential to avoiding injury on the field!
  • Never eat a heavy meal prior to a game and never eat less than 2 hours prior to game/warmup time.
  • Do not eat snacks at half time! Water is all any player needs to remain hydrated. Fruit or other food can upset the stomach, particularly when eaten a few minutes before play resumes!
  • While every player is expected to show the most basic good sportsmanship and commitment to their team by attending every game, there will be rare occasions when a player is unable to make a game. In such cases, please  be sure to notify your coach as far in advance as possible about your absence.
  • Parents are encouraged to reach out to other team parents for assistance with carpooling so every player can support their team by making it to every game.
